Description
This was the way it looked on Whitetop Mountain in Grayson County, Virginia, on the 7th of October, 2017. Since I was looking for fall colors before the first killing frost, the orange in weeds fit the bill. Of course I took some artistic license, but I did try to keep the colors as true as I could. Whitetop is the second highest peak in Virginia. It has the remnants of the last Ice Age flora and is believed to be a mountain bald from early times. This is a view into the mountains of North Carolina.

I think I took a photo from about this same vantage point not long ago.

This is the largest I've ever done... 28 in. by 30 in. I used acrylic because of the amount of paint it took and, too, because I can get richer colors from acrylic. It also dries so fast that I don't take a chance on oil smearing on this large a painting. I have such tight quarters where I put my finished paintings that that could happen. Thanks for the comment because it tells me someone really sees my paintings.
