Description
A hermit thrush stands near chanterelles deep in the forest. They feed on the forest floor eating insects and berries. According to Wikipedia, the hermit thrush is said to have ' "the finest sound in nature" and is ethereal and flute-like. They breed across Canada and the northeastern and western United States. They are to be found here in Virginia and over much of the United States. It is the state bird of Vermont.
