Description
This is a pen and ink drawing made to look like stained glass. The eastern box turtle is a very beneficial little reptile that eats slugs and insects in its diet, and thus is the gardener's friend. Bloodroot is a wild herb that grows here in the Blue Ridges. I have pictured some roots from this plant with the end cut off so as to reveal the blood red inside. The root is poisonous. The Native Americans used it to dye their baskets.
